Day Trip to Daylesford - Part 2 Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens

After a delectable breakfast at Cliffy's Emporium, we went off to explore the area with full bellies and energy.

Just up the street from Cliffy's is the enterance to the Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens but be warned, it's a bit of a steep walk to the gardens!

Ready to explore!
Stairs to Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens
Just after the stairs.

When we reached the stairs, I thought this was it. That was an easy walk to the gardens. But no....that was just the beginning. Then started the steep part of the walk, through some bushes:

Just need to catch my breath haha

But then, we emerged out of the bushes to this incredible view:

The trees had light green leaves and made a canopy over the path. They rustled gently in the wind. Ah, absolute perfection.

We spotted this giant tree that looked like it had been standing there for centuries, just seeing people and things come and go. It's trunk had deep ridges and was full of life - spider webs and lots of little critters. It also had a sort of vibration that you could feel if you put your palm against it and listened gently.

Max feeling the pulse of the giant tree and appreciating it's beauty.

After walking along the beautiful path, we came to the main part of the gardens.

I remembered this tree from when we were here last year.

Here it is from our trip in Feb 2024:

Walking along the path in the gardens. It was so beautiful.

On our way back, Max captured some photos of these lovely flowers:

When we came here last year, it was a bit later in Summer (Feb) and there were many more flowers. Here are some photos we took during our last trip here:

I love the way the sunlight shines through these delicate leaves. And there's the tree with the acorns in the background.
Maxi wandering through the garden
Way more flowers last time!
A beautiful shot of a young couple walking hand in hand ahead of us. Look at how small they are in comparison to the trees!
